Carpet Stretching in Pasadena, CA

Why does my carpet ripple again a few months after stretching?
Usually because it was kicked, not stretched. A knee kicker shoves slack sideways. It does not remove it. A power stretcher braces off the opposite wall and pulls the backing tight across the whole room. Then the edge is re-hooked on tack strip, trimmed, and tucked. Slack that is only moved comes back.
The second reason is the anchor. Many Pasadena condos and postwar tract houses are slab-on-grade. Tack strip there is fastened into concrete, and those pins work loose over time. Strip near closets and doorways also splits. We check the strip before pulling anything. Bad strip gets replaced first, or the ripple returns.
Fiber changes the approach. Cut pile and plush in postwar and pre-war bedrooms forgives small waves and takes tension well. Low-pile loop and Berber in 1980s–2000s condos and remodels shows every ridge and can run or pop loops if the stretcher head is set too deep. Berber gets shallower pin depth and slower work.
Stretching also fails when the backing has delaminated, or when seams were glued weak. We say so upfront rather than pulling on a carpet that will not hold. Estimates are free, and the quote is firm before work starts. Room size, furniture moving, tack strip, and seam repair drive it.
