Carpet Cleaning FAQ — Pasadena, CA
Common questions from homeowners in Pasadena and the surrounding area. If your question isn't here, call us and we'll give you a straight answer.
How fast does carpet dry, and when can we walk on it again?
Most Pasadena homes are back to normal in four to six hours. Low ambient humidity works in your favor here, so drying is rarely the bottleneck. We finish with a heavy extraction pass and set air movers on request to speed it further. You can walk on damp carpet in clean socks right away; wait until it feels dry before putting rugs or heavy furniture back down.

Walk me through what actually happens on cleaning day.
We start by inspecting the fiber and checking traffic lanes, then vacuum dry soil out before any water touches the carpet. Spots get pre-treated, the whole area gets a pre-spray, and we agitate with a groomer so the solution reaches the base of the pile. Extraction follows, then a rinse pass to pull residue out. We groom the pile, place protective tabs under furniture legs, and walk the rooms with you before leaving.

Hot-water extraction, shampooing, dry cleaning: which one will you use?
Hot-water extraction is our default and covers most jobs, including Shaw, Mohawk and Stainmaster nylon. Shampooing has a narrow use: badly greased commercial-grade loop where mechanical scrubbing does more than water alone. Low-moisture dry cleaning suits wool and wool-blend goods from Karastan, Masland or Anderson Tuftex, plus occupied units where the floor has to be usable in an hour. We decide after we look at the fiber and backing, not before.

Realistically, how often should carpet be cleaned around here?
Every 12 to 18 months fits an average household. Cut that to six or nine months if you have dogs, kids, or a home along a busy arterial. Santa Ana wind events push fine grit and dust indoors from the foothills and canyons, and fall wildfire smoke and ash episodes leave a film that vacuuming does not fully lift. In Pasadena the constraint is soil load, not drying time, so grit accumulation is what should drive your schedule.

What drives the price of a job?
Square footage is the base. On top of that: how many rooms, stairs, the fiber type, how heavy the soil is, whether pet treatment or deodorizing is needed, and how much furniture has to be worked around. The estimate is free and we give you a firm quote before anyone starts. That number does not move unless you add work, and if we find something mid-job we stop and tell you first.

Will your crew shift the couches and tables out of the way?
Yes. Sofas, chairs, coffee tables and light dressers get moved, cleaned under, and set back on tabs or blocks. We leave beds, pianos, large china cabinets, aquariums and electronics where they stand and clean around them. Tight hallways and stairwells in the older Craftsman bungalows sometimes limit what can be shifted safely. Clear small items and floor clutter beforehand and the job goes quicker.

Which stains come out and which ones are permanent?
Food, drink, mud, grease, pet accidents and general traffic soil usually respond well. Bleach, harsh cleaning products, some dyes, mustard, and old rust remove or change the fiber color, and no cleaning brings that back. Long-set pet urine may need subsurface treatment, and if it reached the pad, replacement is sometimes the honest answer. We tell you what we expect before we start rather than after.

Are the products you use safe for kids and pets?
Yes. Our solutions are non-toxic and we rinse thoroughly so nothing sticky stays behind to attract dirt or bother bare feet. Keep pets and small children out of the room while hoses and equipment are running, mostly for tripping reasons. Once the carpet is dry, the space is fine to use normally. Tell us about allergies or sensitivities and we will adjust the products.

Do you clean anything besides wall-to-wall carpet?
We clean upholstery, area rugs, and tile with grout. Sofas, sectionals, dining chairs and mattresses all get treated by fabric type. Wool and silk rugs are handled with low-moisture methods and dried flat, since the raised-perimeter and slab-on-grade foundations common in Pasadena leave no basement to hang anything in. Tile and grout are scrubbed and pressure-rinsed, with sealing available afterward.

Can you come today, and how far do you travel?
Same-day slots open up often, especially mid-morning and early afternoon. Call early and we will tell you straight whether a truck can reach you before evening. We cover Pasadena and the wider San Gabriel Valley across Los Angeles County, from the flats up through the foothill neighborhoods at roughly 800 to 1,200 feet against the San Gabriel Mountains. Craftsman and Period Revival homes from the 1900s–1930s, 1920s Spanish and Tudor stock, postwar infill, and the stucco apartment and condo blocks along the arterials are all routine work for us.
